Work Groups

The most important part of Smart Aarhus are the workgroups. They formulate the visions for Smart Aarhus and communicate them to the world. The workgroups are the ones to turn to if you want to contribute to the visions for Aarhus as a digital city in the future. Everybody can join in.

To begin with, a couple of groups have been set up to deal with obvious themes. You can see them below.

However, a whole range of new workgroups will be set up based on inputs and dialogue with citizens in Aarhus and its surroundings – including industry, educational institutions, the public sector, associations, and individuals.

If you want to be part of this, please do not hesitate to contact us and tell us about your area of interest. You may also want to come up with other themes.

Please feel free to create your own group if you think something is missing. You may for instance suggest it on Facebook or send your idea to the Secretariat. Whether you formulate your contribution to the process at the beginning, at the middle or at the end, you are involved.

The first groups

Here are the first groups. Follow us on the blog on smartaarhus.dk and on Facebook to keep yourself posted on new groups.

Digital Entrepreneurship

This field holds a huge potential. For each job that is being made redundant by for example the Internet, 2.6 new jobs are created. And as a digital entrepreneur you need no starting capital – just a computer.

Chairmen of the workgroup

Christian Schwarz Lausten
CEO and Partner of Seismonaut

Open Data

The City of Aarhus began to release public data already in March 2012 when a conference and a so-called Hack lab were held. Here, hackers developed new programs and services that will hopefully make it easier or funnier to be a citizen in Aarhus.

Chairman of the workgroup

Bo Fristed
CIO, Culture and Citizens Services, City of Aarhus

Smart Utilities

The objective is to save energy, heat, water and gas. Not only to save the planet, but also for the benefit of industry. Sensors help utilities and enterprises to monitor, regulate and control energy consumption in order to reduce costs and minimise waste.

Chairman of the workgroup

Jens Hørup
CEO, Amplex

Media

How can the media industry be smarter and adapt to the future media landscape?

Chairman of the workgroup

Lars Kabel
Associate Professor and Journalist, DMJX Danish School of Media and Journalism
